Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei Seen With An Apple iPad At Airport Security

We all know the rule – strictly no competitor products. It’s a fool-proof policy that’s stated like how it’s supposed to be meant.

Once, our boss kicked and nearly killed one of my colleagues who just downloaded a competitor’s app #justsaying

That’s just how the world works.

So imagine the online fiasco that unfolded when Huawei’s very own CEO, Ren Zhengfei, was spotted with an iPad during a security inspection at the airport.

A Huge Apple Junkie

The pictured CEO of Huawei has publicly admitted to his admiration for the Apple brand.

Even in the midst of the growing tech tension between the United States and China, Ren Zhengfei remained a loyal fan of the American rival.

During an interview with Bloomberg, the 75-year-old said that he would oppose any plans of banning Apple products in China. He referred to the tech giant as his teacher, and even said, “Apple is an example we look up to in terms of privacy protection. We will learn from Apple.”

In a similar occasion in January 2016, Ren shared that the calling to learn from Apple and other tech giants in the US market is a common refrain which he frowns upon.

When asked if the Chinese should stick to using Huawei products as an act of patriotism, Ren said, “We cannot simply say that one is patriotic if they use Huawei products and they are not if they don’t use Huawei products. Huawei’s products are ultimately commodities. People use them if they like them. Politics should be left out of it.”

With all of that said, Huawei has yet to comment on whether the iPad belongs to Ren… Though it is likely.

I Said, “Strictly No Competitor Products”

However, Huawei is no stranger to the minor Apple mishaps and double standards. According to a Reuters report, two employees of Huawei were punished for sending New Year greetings on the company’s official Twitter account, using an iPhone.

It was a new year of new beginnings for the careers two staff.

The tweet, marked “via Twitter for iPhone” was immediately deleted.

But netizens being netizens, spread screenshots of the minor slip like wildfire on social media. Soon enough, Huawei became a subject of mockery.

Well, all this just really comes to show that everybody has their own preferences.

Just as how the CEO of Huawei does it, we should all embrace the brands that we love regardless of the “strictly no competitor product” rule.
