If you felt like the sun has fallen on you yesterday (24 March 2024), don’t worry: it’s not just you.
At around 2:41pm, raw eggs that were left outdoors became half-boiled eggs, especially if you live in the north-western part of Singapore.
That area recorded a record-high temperature for 2024, with Choa Chu Kang hitting a whopping 36.3°C.
For 2024, before yesterday, the highest temperature was 36°C, recorded on Sentosa on 13 March.
The good news is that there might be some rain in the next few days.
The bad news?
Be prepared for more Choa Chu Kang for 2024.
In 2023, Singapore’s annual average temperature was 28.2°C, making it the fourth warmest year on record (tied with 1997 and 2015).
That might change, because Singapore’s weather is projected to be even warmer in 2024 than it was last year.
Last year, Singapore also saw new maximum temperature records set in May 2023, where the highest daily maximum temperature of 37.0°C was recorded in Ang Mo Kio.
So what can we expect this year?
Keep your eggs indoor if you don’t intend to accidentally cook them.
