We all say we’re impartial and not judgemental, but in reality, we’re selfish brats who just focus on the winners and not the losers.
Case in point?
Rapper Kanye West is also in the running for President, and while chances of him winning are about 0% to 0% due to the number of states he can run in, we’re still guilty of depriving him of the publicity he so deserved, because he’s spent a whopping $9 million of his own money to publicise his effort.
So here’s Kanye West’s effort to get into the White House, simplified for you.
The Key Players
Lest you didn’t know, anyone can apply to be a President as long as they fulfil certain criteria.
And so, it’s no surprise that there are many people who’d like to live in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, though in a world that only remembers winners, voters only focus on the key players.
In the latest US Presidential election, the key players are Joe Biden and Donald Trump.
It’s no surprise that they’re the most popular candidates.
You see, unlike in Singapore whereby candidates in a party is selected by its party internally, it’s a tad different over in the US for their party candidate.
A number of candidates from the same party would step up way before the election begins, and campaign among themselves. Eventually, one would emerge the winner.
For example, Joe Biden has to “fight” against many of his own party members, including Kamala Harris who had also made a bid for the hot seat, to win the nomination and eventually represent his party.
Just for your info, yes, Trump did the same thing back in 2016.
With two key parties in the US, people often vote for the party instead of the president, which is why you’d have heard of “safe states”.
So chances of an independent candidate winning is akin to finding an influencer who doesn’t humblebrag about her overseas trips; it’s impossible.

Kanye West Also Ran in the US Election & Received 60K Votes
In the latest election, there’s only one other party other than Red and Blue parties that has access to all the 538 electoral votes: Jo Jorgensen from the Libertarian Party.
Other than that, there are many other independent candidates, though you can’t say they’re independent since most run under a party that not many might know.
For example, there’s a party called Bread and Roses, and it was founded by 76-year-old Jerome Segal, who ran for a seat in the Senate (think of it as MP in Singapore) in 2018 and of course, for President this year.
However, many of these parties or candidates didn’t have electors in various states.
If this sounds too chim, just think of it this way: if you want to run for President in Singapore, you need some Singaporeans, whom we should call Pineapples, to support (and vouch for) you in each GRC. People vote for these Pineapples who’ll then vote for the President.
Electors are like Pineapples; you need them to be the President.

In the case of Kanye West, he has 237 electors, which means even if he wins all states he contested in, he still won’t be the President because one would need 270 electors to be the President.
Birthday Party
Kenya West announced his bid to have a seat in the Oval Office on 4 July, calling his campaign and party a Birthday Party.
While Joe Biden and Donald Trump went around swing states to hold rallies, Kenya West simply dropped two videos and a website.
And like any other candidates, he has a position on many issues. For example, for COVID-19, he probably has the best solution that no one has come out with: he suggested prayers and that people “stop doing things that make God mad.”

He also allegedly claimed that he had contracted COVID-19 in February 2020. If you’ve downloaded our app and read all our articles, you’d know that Trump would’ve something to say about that claim.
Suffice to say, his position has been rather…religious. How religious, you ask. Well, the dude has a Christian preacher as his running mate (i.e. Vice-President).
We’d have love to provide more information about what happened after the election, but it’s not as dramatic as what Trump’s doing.
The rapper reportedly got 60,000 votes, and guess what? He’s expressed interest to run for president again in 2024.
On Election Day, he posted a series of Tweets showing him voting for himself, and then this:
