Singaporeans are really sensitive about spitting right now and it’s for a good reason.
Yeah, spitting in Singapore’s kind of a taboo right now. Because Covid-19 pandemic is getting worse and the main mode of transmission is respiratory droplets.
Or your saliva or mucus, right?
But there will still be people who do it anyway, like this man.
Man Caught on Camera Smoking & Spitting at Hougang Carpark
Thi incident allegedly happened on Friday, 27 Mar 2020. A man was caught on camera smoking and spitting in Hougang at 8am.
A netizen, who is known as Ivan, submitted the video to STOMP.
He added that he was seated in his car when he managed to capture this “golden moment”.
He expresses his disgust for the man’s actions, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“At a time when we are serious about Covid-19, this guy spat twice on the ground like nobody’s business.”
He pledged to report this incident to the National Environment Agency (NEA).
However, it wasn’t said if the man had really lodged a report in the end.
A Serious Matter
If you too, like this gentleman, have a habit of spitting in public, it might be a good idea to get rid of it.
Even when there are no Covid-19 outbreaks, spitting in public is a hygiene concern which can net you a fine.
What more during these sensitive times.
Also, the police have previously said that they will be taking ‘spitting incidents’ seriously, especially due to the Covid-19 pandemic in Singapore.
And we all know that the government is utterly serious about enforcing rules against Covid-19 in Singapore
And they’re completely willing to make an example out of anyone who decides to go against them.
Like the dude who breaches SHN to eat Bak Kut Teh and was let off with a warning…
…only to be brought back and possibly charged because his matter was brought up in parliament again.
The previous few spitting incidents all ended up with the suspects getting arrested by the police, be they teens, youths or anyone else.
So like what PCK says, don’t play play hor.
And finally, here’s a rule of thumb for you: When in Singapore, somebody’s always watching what you’re doing.
I know what you did last summer.
Singapore has summer all-year-round, and they. Always. Know.
