MOM Responds To Viral Video, Says FW Will Be Punished

A day later on 6 Jun, the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) took to their Facebook page to provide an update on the viral video.

They clarified that they have investigated the incident.

There was actually a queue system in place which allows workers to buy essentials with safe distancing and it had worked quite well.

But in this incident, the minimart has just reopened after temporarily closing for two weeks.

The dormitory operator has warned the workers.

MOM has also identified the culprits and will be taking action against them.

You know how we do things: Whenever we have such incidents to write about, the one place we’ll check out is the comments section.

We just love netizens’ opinions.

Besides people were asking about construction projects, recruitment matters, hotline enquiries and more, one top comment stood out:

Most likely, he was referring to this video:

The video alleged that a MOM officer caught a foreign worker for not wearing a mask, filmed him and posted it online.

MOM says that they’ll look into the matter and asked the man to submit more details via their online feedback form.

Yes, guys, it might come as a surprise but Facebook isn’t their usual mode of feedback.

Again, let me remind you that before you speculate, take note that not everything on the internet can be trusted.
