If you love cats, how far would you go for them?
Far enough to work as a cleaner to feed stray cats?
Because, believe it or not, there’s one person who did just that.
M’sian Worked Part-Time As Cleaner To Feed Stray Cats
This is 43-year-old Mohammad Azhar Alias.
He used to work as a human resources executive but left his job to start up a cake business with his wife.
Extra Money Goes To Stray Cats
Previously, the money from his business can buy him everything he needs at home. And when he has extra cash, he buys more cat food to feed the strays.
However, as the business has been slow, he decided to take up the position of a part-time road cleaner.
The money, he hopes, will be enough to buy extra cat food for stray cats.
Spends Over A Thousand Ringgit Per Month On Stray Cats
In total, Azhar spends over 1,500RM (~SGD$496) a month to get 3.5kg worth of cat food every single day for stray cats.
And he travels around 30km daily to feed them at different locations. That’s almost from one end of Singapore to the other end.
Isn’t he such a great person?
Truly a great person to learn from.
But Please, Feed Responsibly
In Singapore, it’s illegal to feed stray birds but feeding stray dogs and cats are still allowed.
Provided you feed responsibly, that is.
NParks has this really awesome booklet which teaches you how to feed strays without becoming a nuisance.
Yes, it’s meant for dogs but let’s face it, there’s not much difference except one (dogs) is cuter. Maybe.
One tip is not to leave food for strays overnight as this might lead to rodents and other pests infesting the area.

Other tips include feeding at a quiet area with lesser animal and human traffic and to make feeding time consistent.
If feeders are found irresponsibly feeding strays, a complaint may be lodged against them and there will be penalties involved.
