When going for a free trial class, you probably don’t really know what to expect. Sometimes, you join because you want to try your hand at a new martial art or sport.
Sometimes, you want to see if the instructor is able to teach well before committing to the lessons.
So understandably this lady also wanted a trial class and as the saying goes, you should always try before you buy. (Applicable to all scenarios, if you know what I mean).
Muay Thai Instructor Offers ‘Massage’ & Molests Woman After Trial Class
Unfortunately, she had no idea that the instructor also had plans to ‘try’ her.
A Muay Thai instructor is accused of sexually assaulting a woman that he “massaged” after a trial class at a gym.
He was also a co-founder of the gym, but nope, even though his job and company were at stake he still went ahead and did a misdeed.
What Happened
To make the sequence of events clearer, let’s explain what happened one by one.
The woman earlier testified attending a trial class at Encore Muay Thai on 1 October 2016 after she saw an advertisement on her Facebook feed.
Tan Wai Luen was the instructor of that class which was also attended by three other women who she was not friends with.
After the trial class ended and the other three women left, Tan sat down with her to discuss gym packages.
But somewhere between all of that, Tan asked her if she would like a Thai massage. According to him, he was the only person who could do massages at the gym.
Nice.
The woman agreed.
Maybe she deemed him trustworthy, or maybe she just ached all over and could not say no to a massage. Let’s be clear here: Never blame the victim.
Things were about to get a whole lot weirder though because somehow, he also convinced her to strip to her underwear.
While he was massaging her inner thigh area, Tan sexually assaulted her
According to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP), “(He) took it out immediately when she turned around to look at him and shouted ‘oi’. The accused did not apologise or say anything to her.”
This was not the end of the said massage. He continued massaging for around 10 minutes before the woman left the gym.
Premeditated Assault
The woman realised that the gym’s door was locked from the inside, which meant that the entire massage and sexual assault was probably premeditated and thought of beforehand.
The next day, she contacted the other co-founder of the gym regarding the incident, who made a police report.
During the trial, Tan first admitted to touching her genitals during the massage.
However, he later contradicted himself, saying that “it was impossible” that he touched her genitals at all since he had “stopped performing the massage on her at her lower thigh area.”
The DPP said, “Set against this backdrop, the prosecution submits that the victim’s evidence is reliable, unusually convincing and ought to be accorded due weight.”
“On the contrary, the accused’s testimony is incredible, self-serving and rife with material inconsistencies.”
The verdict will be revealed next year and we hope that the truth will come out eventually.
