Netizens Praise 2 Kids Who Bowed at Vehicle for Stopping at Zebra Crossing For Them to Cross

Today (8 Jan), two adorable students were widely praised online for bowing twice to a driver for stopping to let them cross at a zebra crossing.

The world might seem like a dreary place with all the news about COVID and flooding, but some acts of consideration like these – especially from innocent children – really does a lot to warm hearts and make people’s day.

Bowing Twice to Thank the Driver

This dashcam footage was taken by a vehicle along Anchorage Link in Sengkang.

In the short video, two students supposedly from Nan Chiau Primary School, judging from their uniforms, can be seen raising their hands at the zebra crossing to signal that they wanted to cross the road.

The pair of children first bowed in thanks as they were crossing and bowed again in appreciation when they reached the other end of the road.

To make the whole incident even cuter, you can clearly see that they were holding onto a plastic bag and drinks in their hands, but that did not deter them from being polite.

Following the Traffic Rules

Although we’ve been taught since Primary School to always look left and right before crossing the road, and to raise our hands to signal that we’re crossing, how many of us have genuinely retained these habits?

And it can’t be understated about how it is really thoughtful gestures like these that capture the netizens’ attention and hearts.

One driver even remarked that seeing such a thing would brighten his day.

Of course, we can’t forget the innumerable comments praising the children for their good upbringing and education, of how they are such good children that will surely grow up to be law-abiding citizens.

While diminutive in size, and young of age, there certainly are lessons we can learn from them.

For instance, road safety is dependent on both the drivers and the pedestrians— pedestrians should always pay attention to the vehicles driving by just as the drivers need to be aware of any oncoming pedestrians.

Often, it would already be a miracle if our eyes weren’t glued to our phones as we’re crossing the roads defiantly, to say nothing of irresponsible and reckless drivers like that Audi owner recently.

Sometimes, small acts of acknowledgement and gratitude will go a long way in creating a more harmonious and amiable society, or simply put a smile on someone’s face.

We should all do our parts to make Singapore a safer place!
