On 9 May 2020, 753 new Covid-19 cases were reported in Singapore.
9 are Singaporeans or Singapore PRs and the majority are work permit holders residing in dormitories.
Northpoint City Now Has 18 COVID-19 Cases Linked to It As 2 More Cleaners Got Infected
Northpoint City, the mall that grew up without anyone noticing, was identified as a Covid-19 cluster on 25 Apr.
Yesterday, two more cleaners tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total up to 18 cases at the mall.
Case 22,321 is a 60-year-old man who works as a cleaner at the mall. He reported symptoms on 12 Apr and tested positive on 8 May 2020.
Case 22,322 is a 77-year-old man who reported symptoms on 14 Apr.
They are contacts of two other cases:
- Case 3,003: a 54-year-old Singaporean woman who tested positive on 13 Apr
- Case 3,682: a 57-year-old Singaporean woman who tested positive on 15 Apr
Other Community Cases
Besides the two cleaners, here are the other community cases reported yesterday:
Linked cases:
- A resident at Acacia Home tested positive for Covid-19 on 8 May 2020, bringing the total number there to 16
- Two Singapore PRs, case 22,023 and 22,026, working at a worksite at Tanah Merah
- A 52-year-old man linked to a quarantine officer who was tested positive earlier this week

Unlinked cases:
- Case 22019: a 37-year-old Singapore PR who reported symptoms on 4 May and tested positive on 8 May
- Case 22,021: a 24-year-old Singaporean man who reported symptoms on 6 May
- 22,412: a 70-year-old man who reported symptoms on 4 May and was confirmed on 9 May
Status Of Community Cases
Previously, the multi-ministry task force said there are three factors to consider when it comes to lifting Circuit Breaker here:
- Number of cases in Singapore
- Global situation
- System for lifting
While we can’t do much for the second, the first looks pretty well.
Based on 8 May’s numbers, the number of new community cases has dropped from an average of 12 per day to 10 per day in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases has also dropped, from an average of 6 cases per day in the week before to an average of 5 per day in the past week.
