On 9 May, a man was filmed throwing four to five puppies into the canal.
This was shared online by the Facebook page Chained Dog Awareness in Singapore on 9 May 2020.
They said that the video was a tip-off by a friend’s father who saw the incident at Lower Pierce Reservoir.
They made known that the information was “sketchy” but requested for people to help comb the area anyway as “these pups could be racing against time to survive”.
In their initial post, they also said that they will alert the Animal & Veterinary Service(AVS) to the incident.
Many concerned animal lovers in Singapore immediately mobilised and head over to the reservoir to help out.
After a while, some users are calling for people not to make their way to help as the Circuit Breaker is still in effect.
Dogs Found Safe And Well
At 5.45pm, CDAS updated their post, letting everyone know that the dogs are safe and “well”.
AVS has located the man filmed in the video, they confirmed.

They ask for everyone to head home and apologised for “uploading the video hastily” because they were worried that the authorities wouldn’t be able to mobilise in time.
In a separate update, they said that the water wasn’t as deep as the video seemed to show.
They’ve also checked with the man who took the video who confirmed that the dogs managed to get out of the canal safely.

Investigations Are Ongoing
NParks issued a statement to Mothership.sg which confirms that the man who was captured dropping dogs into a drainage canal has been found.
The dogs, which belonged to the man, are safe and well.
The man had claimed that he was bringing his dogs for a swim at the canal, they added, and they are currently investigating the incident.
They also ask for members of the public not to speculate and allow the investigation to “run its proper course”.
