If you’re into Minecraft, you’d know Technoblade.
The YouTuber, who had about 12 million subscribers, started his YouTube channel back in 2013, when he was mere 13 years old, playing Minecraft. He had then set a goal to have 10 million subscribers—a goal he achieved on the last day of 2021.
Unfortunately, the young man wasn’t able to set new goals, as he has just passed on.
Popular YouTuber Technoblade Dies of Cancer at Age 23
Technoblade, whose real name is Alexander, has often kept his personal life private.
However, last August, he suddenly announced that he was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare kind of cancer whereby cancer cells grow in the connective tissue. His treatment of chemotherapy and radiation therapy haven’t been unsuccessful, and he might need to amputate his arm.
Late last year, it was revealed that he managed to save his arm.
Since then, he was still posting videos but wasn’t as active as he used to be.
On 30 June 2022, a video titled “so long nerds” was uploaded, and it had the same thumbnail as the video that he announced his cancer diagnosis.
His father appeared in the video instead, and revealed that Alexander had passed on.
In the video, he also played a clip of Alexander giving a posthumous message to his viewers. He said, “Hello everyone, Technoblade here. If you’re watching this, I am dead. Thank you all for supporting my content over the years. If I had another 100 lives, I think I would choose to be Technoblade again every single time, as those were the happiest years of my life.”
According to his father, he died eight hours after he recorded that message.
The video then ended with a heartwarming letter written by his mother.
According to his website, proceeds from his merchandises will be donated to the Sarcoma Foundation of America.
