Jacqueline Wong, Once Tainted by Scandal, Ties the Knot with 48-Year-Old Musician
Are you an aficionado of Cantonese dramas?
If you are, then the name “Jacqueline Wong” would certainly ring a bell.
From Acclaimed Actress to ‘Asia’s Most Famous Mistress’
Hailing from New York, Jacqueline clinched the position of first runner-up in the Miss Hong Kong 2012 pageant. This achievement paved the way for her to become an actress at TVB, where she remained until 2022.
Though Jacqueline rose to fame through hit dramas like Deep in the Realm of Conscience and Inspector Gourmet, her reputation was equally marked by controversies, most notably her affairs with Andy Hui, a married man, while dating Kenneth Ma.
This series of events led to her being dubbed “Asia’s most famous mistress”.
Consequently, a significant number of viewers boycotted her shows, and she was even replaced by close friends in various roles.
Yet, the wheel of time turns.
Four years post these incidents, Jacqueline appears to have put the past behind her. She recently exchanged vows with her beau, Lai Man Wang, who plays drums for the famous Cantopop band, RubberBand.
An Intimate Outdoor Ceremony for Jacqueline Wong
Sparks first flew between Jacqueline and Lai in February 2020, when they were spotted together at a pet store. This 14-year age gap couple publicly acknowledged their relationship in July 2022 and reportedly moved in together shortly after.
On the recent 27 October, they celebrated their love in a picturesque outdoor setting in Yuen Long.
The grandeur of the event is evident from the venue’s reservation prices, suggesting a hefty sum of more than HKD$98,000 (S$17,000) was spent just for the venue booking.
This solemn occasion was graced only by close family and select friends.
It’s worth noting that the pair had formally registered their marriage on 13 August. At that time, Lai was already divorced.
Rumors swirled suggesting Jacqueline’s unexpected nuptials were due to an unplanned pregnancy, but she chose to remain silent on the matter. The entertainment fraternity, including her ex-lover Kenneth Ma, who is set to marry Roxanne Tong later this year, showered the newlyweds with blessings.
Following the turbulence of 2019, Jacqueline’s journey back to the spotlight wasn’t an easy one.
Yet, she wasn’t alone. Her now-husband Lai was her rock, not only inspiring her but also playing a pivotal role in revitalizing her music career. He actively collaborated in the production of her songs, a testament to their shared passion.
Jacqueline, reflecting on his unwavering support, expressed heartfelt gratitude in an interview in June 2023.
Lai’s affection for his bride was palpable during their wedding. According to reports by hk01, he voiced heartfelt thanks to Jacqueline, cherishing her for “always lending a listening ear and taking impeccable care of him.”
