What do you do when you can’t get what you want? Throw a tantrum, maybe?
Or maybe you’d prefer to sulk alone under your blankets.
Whatever it is, most of us probably would not resort to violence. Unfortunately, this doctor in Singapore did not get the memo.
S’pore Doctor Says ‘I Don’t Remember Anything’ After Hitting GF Till Face Fractures
A stand-in doctor at a clinic in Singapore named Clarence Teo Shun Jie, 35, allegedly assaulted his then-girlfriend Rachel Lim En Hui, 27, at his Redhill flat between 2am and 4.12am.
The incident occurred on 27 August 2017.
They had met each other through Coffee Meets Bagel, a dating app, and later began dating around February 2017.
He had hit her multiple times before for petty things like bringing up her past relationships. Each time, she would forgive him.
Here’s some advice for my dear readers, if your partner throws a punch at you, run for your life. Or. Else.
They went drinking one night and returned home.
Ms Lim allegedly did not want to have sex with him, so the doctor punched her face, locked her up and slammed her against the wall.
As a result, she suffered multiple facial fractures.
Ms Lim was brought to the hospital and warded for 21 days. Teo is out on bail for $15,000.
Doctor Says “I Don’t Remember Anything”
Teo testified that he had went drinking with her on the day of the attack.
He told the court that he had a drinking problem, which leads him to do “inexplicable things that were quite shameful and embarrassing”.
He remembers having sex when they reached the flat after pub-hopping but his “next memory” was waking up in a cell.
He also told a police officer, “I don’t remember anything”.
“I recall people handcuffing me… I didn’t know where I was. Someone told me I was in Police Cantonment Complex.”
He also told the judge that his drinking problem had cost him his job twice. Among the “inexplicable things” drinking led him to do, one of them was drinking in Vietnam only to wake up on the streets.
“I presume the bar people had thrown me out… The list goes on.”
Doctor Testified That Ms Lim Had Bipolar Disorder & She Had Asked Him To Take One Of Her Medicines
The doctor testified that Ms Lim is suffering from Bipolar Disorder.
Relatedly, he claims that she had asked him to take one of her medicines, zopiclone, which is a type of sleeping pill.
However, no tests were done on the doctor to check if he had any medication in his system.
He also claims that in the past, Ms Lim had also asked him to take a tablet and told him that he became a “peaceful cat” after that.
Ms Lim denied this in court saying, “Never in my life had I given Clarence medication to eat.”
Doctor Has Stopped Drinking Alcohol Since October 2017; Attends Alcoholics Anonymous Meetings
He also said that he has quit drinking since October 2017 and even attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
Besides this, he is also getting treatment for his drinking problem.
Let’s hope that that is really true.
