S’pore Records Highest Temperature in May at 36.7°C on 13 May; Hot Weather to Persist for the Rest of May

Were you hoping for more rainy weather to counter the soaring temperatures?

Unfortunately, we should expect more warm days for the rest of May 2022, as the period of wet weather draws to a close.

Daily Maximum Temperatures As High As 36°C

Expect warmer and drier weather for the next half of May, with daily maximum temperatures ranging from 34 to 35°C on most days. It is forecasted to peak at 36°C on some days.

The nights will also be warm and humid, with temperatures around 28°C. Additionally, winds blowing from the east and southeast will bring in warm and humid air from the seas into Singapore. Definitely time to put your air-conditioners to good use.

You can expect short thundershowers in the late mornings or early afternoons due to the Sumatra squalls. However, the rainfall is expected to be below average to near-average for most parts of Singapore.

Highest Temperature Ever Recorded at Admiralty

The residents in Admiralty definitely broke a sweat the past two weeks, as the highest daily maximum temperature of 36.7°C was recorded there on 13 May 2022.

This is the highest temperature ever recorded in Singapore in May, with the previous record being 36.5°C in 2010 and 2016.

But it seems like Admiralty experienced both extremes: the scorching sun and the relentless rain. The rainfall recorded there was 138% above average, the highest amount on the entire island.

Overall, the entire island experienced thundery showers and gusty winds for the past two weeks, with two-thirds of Singapore experiencing above-average rainfall.

Despite the rain, we still experienced pretty warm weather, with maximum temperatures exceeding 34°C on eight days.
