Humans will do anything to stay alive: it’s a biological instinct. But there is one thing that can make us forget about our own survival; the safety of our children.
Some, like this woman below, are willing to sacrifice themselves for the sake of a child.
Woman Dies In Car Accident At Lentor Avenue
Tragedy struck on Tuesday morning (5 Nov) when a 30-year-old woman died and a two-year-old boy was sent to the hospital after an accident at Lentor Avenue.
The police said that they were alerted to the accident involving a car and two pedestrians along Lentor Avenue towards Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 at 10.54am on Tuesday (Nov 5).
A 44-year-old driver was subsequently arrested.
Pushed child out of the way
According to Shin Min Daily News, the woman was pushing the young child in the stroller and was crossing the road at the time.
When she saw the car speeding towards her, she quickly pushed the child out of harm’s way before being hit by the car.
It is unclear whether the young boy was the woman’s son, but some netizens believe it was the boy’s domestic helper.
Passed away in the hospital
The woman was unconscious after the accident and was rushed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital.
Unfortunately, she later succumbed to her injuries. The two-year-old toddler who was still conscious after the accident was taken to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
One eyewitness at the scene said that the car was dented and that the woman’s shoes were some distance from the black car in question.
The 44-year-old driver has been arrested for careless driving causing death and investigations are ongoing.
Stop rushing, drive safe
In a busy country like Singapore, everyone tends to rush through their day, especially drivers. We have to get to our destination as fast as possible, even if it means speeding and driving recklessly.
But is it really worth it? Is it worth endangering the lives of pedestrians and other motorists just to save a couple of minutes? Even if you’re late for work, school, or an important engagement, remember that it’s not the end of the world if you miss it or end up going late.
Because if you decide to rush there and end up hurting or even killing someone in the process, well, that’s something you and the victim’s family will never recover from.
Take extra care on the road, guys.
