Thailand Imposes 14-Day Self-Quarantine For Travellers From 11 Countries Including S’pore

According to CNN, those who are arriving from multiple places in Asia, the Middle East and Europe will be forced to self-quarantine by Thai authorities.

This was allegedly announced by the country’s Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

The Facebook post said that Japan, Germany, South Korea, China “including its special territories Macao and Hong Kong”, Taiwan, France, Singapore, Italy and Iran have been declared as “dangerous communicable disease areas”.

Thus, anyone travelling from these places will be forced to self-quarantine for 14 days “with no exceptions,” according to Charnvirakul.

Before You Cancel Any Travel Plans… Know That The Post Has Allegedly Been Deleted

This is where it gets a little confusing.

According to BangkokPost, Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon told reporters that there’s currently no law in effect now that could force anyone to isolate themselves.

In addition to that after Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul announced the news on the Facebook page on Tuesday that all visitors must quarantine themselves for 14 days with no exceptions, the post was allegedly deleted minutes later without any explanation.

The Situation

The number of confirmed cases in Thailand is at 43 cases. One person has died due to the virus and various events have been cancelled. They have also introduced more measures to limit the spread of the virus.

Singapore, on the other hand, has blocked entry and transit for new visitors who have travelled to Iran, northern Italy or South Korea within the last 14 days.
