With Singapore going into a soft “lockdown” (the correct term is of course “circuit breaker”), people are now worried if they have enough food at home to last through the entire period.
Although it needs to be said that even if you don’t have enough, it doesn’t matter because you’re able to go out and get groceries at supermarkets during this period.
But if you’re kiasu, and you want to leave the house as little as possible (which is great because you’re being socially responsible), I have a little something for you:
There’s an Online Calculator That Can Predict How Much Food You Need at Home During Circuit Breaker Period
Polish startup Omni Calculator has developed an online calculator which tells you exactly how much food you need if you want to go on a self-quarantine for two weeks.
And it doesn’t do so in vague terms.
The calculator can separate what you need into perishable and non-perishable goods and calculate based on the number of people in your home.
Here’s How It Works:
It will start off by asking how many people are in your household.
Based on that, it’ll calculate the amount of non-perishable goods:
And perishable foods you need to have in your home.
P/S: If you’ve been hoarding eggs, just know that you only need 37 eggs to last you through two weeks.
And it’s not just food.
They’ve included toilet rolls estimation too.
And yes, people are hoarding toilet paper for no logical reason. You can watch the reasons here:

Space Out by the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore (URA).
It’s an interactive map which can show you the “crowd level” of shopping malls in Singapore in real-time.
With this map, you can plan your trip to the mall, make your way over and avoid waiting outside the mall in the sweltering heat because the mall is at full capacity.
And for those who are still looking to go to the parks and exercise, NParks has also developed an interactive map which shows you the crowd levels at the various parks around Singapore.
An expert has said that we can expect more cases to come in the “coming few weeks” as community transmission is at an all-time high.
So let us do our part and try to follow safe distancing measures during the circuit breaker period, okay?
