Three Airlines Waive Fees For Flight Changes To Every Destination

The COVID-19 situation is getting worse on a global scale.

Thus, Singaporeans are understandably iffy about travelling abroad and would instead prefer to hide away at home with their toilet papers.

Even in Singapore, the outbreak isn’t showing any signs of slowing down due to the most recent cluster that has emerged at SAFRA Jurong.

Luckily, airlines are changing their policies to give customers the option to change their travel plans without paying hefty fees:

Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines & SilkAir Waive Fees For Flight Changes Regardless of Destination

Amidst the fall in demand for aeroplane tickets due to the coronavirus, airlines are also updating their policies about changing flights at least for the time being.

British Airways and Delta Air Lines had already begun to waive change fees for their flights.

Unsurprisingly, other airlines such as Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and SilkAir are also adopting the change.

Emirates: Change Your Travel Dates Without Paying Fees

The global outlook in terms of the COVID-19 is uncertain. We don’t know the risks of flying abroad or if the coronavirus situation at our holiday destination is going to change.

Thus, in order to give customers peace of mind, airlines have introduced a waiver policy that will allow them to change their travel dates without getting charged change and issuance fees.

However, do note that this is only applicable for any bookings made before 31 March 2020.

Customers will be able to change their booking to any date for travel within an 11-month date range in the same booking class without incurring change fees.

That being said, if there are differences in fares or any applicable taxes, you would still have to pay those costs yourself.

The policy is valid for all existing destinations in Emirates’ network and refund and rebooking conditions for tickets issued before 5 March 2020 still apply.

Qatar Airways: Charges Waived, Travel Vouchers Offered For Bookings Made For Travel Up To 30 June

Passengers who have booked or will book flights for travel up to 30 June will have two options if they wish to change their travel plans.

Firstly, they can change their flight dates for free, with change fees waived if reservations are changed at least three days before departure. Do note that fare differences will still apply.

Alternatively, they can also exchange their ticket for a travel voucher valid for one year from its issuance date. The refund penalty will be waived if cancellations are done at least three days before departure.

Singapore Airlines: Change Fees Waived For Bookings Made From 6-31 March

Change fees will be waived for all Singapore Airlines and SilkAir bookings made between 6-20 March to and from all destinations.

Flight date changes are only appliable if the new travel date commences before 31 March 2021. Again, any fare differences will still apply.

If you opt to cancel your flights instead, refunds will be in accordance with fare conditions of the ticket you purchased.

Previously

Passengers can now breathe a sigh of relief because previously, some airlines only allowed customers to change their flights or get a refund if their destination is one with travel restrictions.

Now, anyone who is in possession of tickets with the above airlines and is wary of travelling can have peace of mind.

In the meantime, do remember to observe good personal hygiene and keep up to date with the COVID-19 situation here.
