Remember back in primary school when you wrote all those compositions about a break-in?

You probably wrote everything based on your imagination or some drama you saw.

Little do you know, this sort of creepy thing actually did happen to one unlucky man and his family.

Man Trespassed Into Neighbour’s Home 

On Thursday (27 May), a Facebook post detailing a break-in incident was shared by a resident at the Braddell View apartment complex, a former Housing and Urban Development Company (HUDC) flat.

The incident had happened early that morning around 8 am. The resident, Caleb Tay, and his parents had been asleep in their rooms when Tay was woken up by a loud noise outside.

A topless man then reportedly proceeded to barge into his room, going to one side of the room and opening a window. At that point, Tay had allegedly shouted at the man, questioning him on who he was and what he was doing trespassing into his house.

Unfortunately, the man had reportedly remained silent. Tay told Mothership that the man was breathing heavily and had an “unpleasant expression” on his face.

Thereafter, the man had slowly walked out of Tay’s room, while Tay followed him and continued to shout. The man eventually left their house.

Okay, that was super random and super creepy. 

Man Made a Mess of the Kitchen, But Nothing Taken

In the same Facebook post, photos and videos depicting a mess in their kitchen were shared. There were several items toppled onto the floor with their contents spilled.

Tay also said that a bottle of prune juice had been taken out of the refrigerator, with an empty cup placed next to it.

However, nothing valuable had been taken. Tay also assured everyone that neither he nor his parents were hurt.

Man Had Tried to Enter Another Neighbour’s House

When the man left their house, Tay tried to chase after him by running up to the floors above.

Unable to find the man, Tay proceeded to visit the security office below. However, at the ground floor lift lobby, he met several police officers with shields.

It was revealed that another resident had contacted the police regarding an attempted break-in. When contacted by Mothership, the police shared that they had received a call for assistance at 10E Braddell Hill around 8.22am. According to Tay, that resident said that the man had also tried to enter his house, but was thankfully unsuccessful.

Turns out, Tay and his family had left their door unlocked. The family had a habit of leaving their doors unlocked if there were occupants in the house, as they believed it to be safe.

During the 34 years that they had lived at the flat, the family has “never had such an unpleasant incident.” Tay added in his Facebook post, “Our estate is pretty peaceful.”

With this incident, I don’t think they’ll be leaving their doors unlocked anytime soon.

The 32-year-old man has since been arrested for criminal trespass and suspected drug-related offences. Investigations are ongoing.
