‘Unusual Surge’ of Record 5,324 COVID-19 Cases Reported on 27 Oct With 10 Deaths

For the last few weeks, our daily case count has fluctuated between 3,000 to 4,000.

While there were days where case numbers climbed steadily, they also dropped on other days and never breached the 4,000 mark. This gave us hope that cases would dwindle, but as we’ve learned throughout the pandemic, making predictions about COVID-19 rarely ends well.

Among the local cases are 728 seniors above 60.

Sadly, more COVID-19 patients succumbed to the virus as well.

MOH Looking into “Unusual Surge” of Cases

The health ministry explained that case numbers were unusually high yesterday largely due to many COVID-positive cases being detected by the testing laboratories within a few hours in the afternoon.

“MOH is looking into this unusual surge in cases within a relatively short window, and closely monitoring the trends for the next few days,” it added.
