Success doesn’t come at the same time for everyone.
I’ve had friends who would take to something naturally while someone like me could take a longer time to learn it.
Similarly, in life, not everyone is that young entrepreneur who made it big overnight. Some take years before their big break.
As long as you keep at it, great things come to those who yearn for it.
This is definitely true for this poultry-selling couple.
Started From The Bottom
The rags-to-riches type stories never get old for a reason.
Lan and his wife Nur Amyza Ismail story recently made the rounds on social media. They’re the owners of Berkhat Illahi.
Their business sells fresh poultry in the district of Tanah Merah in Kelantan, Malaysia.
When the couple started their first stall back in 2008, they were insulted by others and were told that they couldn’t make it.
It didn’t help that neither were well-educated too.
However, they took the jeers in stride and used it to fuel their drive to work harder.
In fact, the couple worked so hard that they now have four outlets around Tanah Merah. How’s that for silencing the haters?
Gifting An Audi
On 28 October, Lan posted this on Facebook.
The post detailed his and his wife’s story from then till now, but what I know some of you are interested in is the picture on the right.
That is indeed an Audi A3 gifted to Lan by Amzmya and man does it look spiffy!
The retail price of it is roughly S$78,460. That’s even crazier when you convert it to RM.
In a rather nice touch, the photo on the left shows their Perodua Kancil, the couple’s first car which is now painted red over its former white colour.
The model isn’t produced anymore too and a second-hand model costs much lower at around S$5,162.
It’s pretty cool how even the cars indirectly show their life’s progression.
But did you know they actually have a third car?
That is a freaking Ford Ranger Raptor.
Along with their nice house you see in some of their pictures, the ‘riches’ part of rags-to-riches has likely started to come into effect.
Strength From The Past
But of course, the couple has never forgotten where they came from.
In his post, Lan states that they set aside maliciousness and don’t look down on people even when they are successful.
In fact, they sometimes even sell their goods to loyal customers at a much cheaper price.
As recent as 4 November, they sold a kilogram worth of fresh chicken for just S$1.30. That’s a steal.
