We’ve all complained about the tightened COVID-19 measures, but they’re certainly working.
Yesterday was the ninth day in a row that our weekly infection growth rate has remained below 1 – it was 0.87 as of yesterday, down from the 0.88 reported the day before.
Yes, instead of heading towards the 5,000 mark, our daily caseload has once again dropped below 3,000.
2,396 New COVID-19 Cases
2,396 new COVID-19 cases were reported yesterday (11 Nov), a decrease of 1,085 from the previous day’s tally.
The cases comprise 2,243 infections in the community, 136 in migrant worker dormitories, and 17 imported infections.
Among the local cases are 370 seniors above 60.
8 COVID-19 Fatalities
Eight more COVID-19 cases have succumbed to the virus, bringing our death toll to 548.
Aged between 74 and 100, all of them had various underlying medical conditions.
MOH Closely Monitoring Five Large Clusters
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is closely monitoring five large clusters with new cases, the largest of which is at Acacia Home, with 49 infections. 46 residents and three staff members have been infected there.
One case each was added to the clusters at St John’s – St Margaret’s Nursing Home and at MWS Nursing Home in Yew Tee.
The first cluster has 17 infections including 14 residents, while the second has 18 infections including 17 residents.
The other two clusters are:
- NTUC Health Senior Day Care (Taman Jurong) – three new cases, 29 in total
- Jenaris Home @ Pelangi Village – two new cases, 34 in total
1,610 COVID-19 Cases in Hospitals; 129 in ICU
At the moment, there are 1,610 COVID-19 cases warded in hospitals, most of whom are well and under observation.
270 serious cases require oxygen supplementation and 129 are in the intensive care unit, comprising 59 cases who are unstable and under close monitoring, and 70 who are critically ill and intubated.
Over the past seven days, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who have been critically ill in the ICU are at 0.5 and 5.3 per 100,000 population respectively.
The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 1.8 and 46.3 respectively.
Over the same period, the number of fully vaccinated and non-fully vaccinated cases who died are 0.1 and 0.9 per 100,000 population respectively.
The same figures for seniors aged 60 and above are 0.4 and 8.9 respectively.
Currently, 85% of our population has been fully vaccinated and 86% have received at least one dose. 19% have received their booster shots.
Denmark Imposes Quarantine on Singapore Travellers
Our relatively high daily caseload has not gone unnoticed by other countries.
Denmark, one of the countries we have a Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) agreement with, has imposed a quarantine on travellers from Singapore.
This comes after it listed Singapore as a “high risk country for travel to Europe”.
All travellers arriving in Denmark from Singapore must be tested upon arrival and self-isolate for 10 days. If they get a negative result, the isolation period will end on day four.
This will apply to both vaccinated and unvaccinated travellers as Denmark does not recognise Singapore’s vaccination certificate.
The only exception would be Danish citizens who are fully vaccinated.
