While daily new COVID-19 confirmed cases are reported in Singapore, it’s now clear that one of the reasons why we have “so many cases” is due to our effective detection method compared to other countries: even researchers in Harvard and WHO officials agree.
Which is why you shouldn’t get too worried with the numbers, though you should still stay vigilant.
Because today, three new patients were confirmed, and one’s infection is of unknown origin.
3 New COVID-19 Cases in S’pore Today; 1 is a Dengue Patient Who Has Stayed in a General Ward
The first patient is a 57-year-old Singaporean who had been admitted to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) on 15 February 2020 due to dengue. She was then in the general ward, but after she was tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday afternoon, she was immediately transferred to an isolation room.
Just as a precautionary measure (after all, a hospital is the cleanest place you can find other than a BMTC recruit’s bunk), all patients who have stayed in the same ward as her have been tested for the virus, while the room has also been thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.
The second patient is a 54-year-old Singaporean who travels frequently to Malaysia for work. He was tested positive for the virus this morning. The man is linked to the Life Church and Missions Singapore Church cluster, which now has 4 cases.
The last patient is a 35-year-old Singaporean who was also tested positive this morning. She is a close contact of a confirmed case who is linked to the Grace Assembly of God Church cluster, which means the cluster has a total of 22 cases.
In total, Singapore now has 84 confirmed cases.
Updates on Statues of Confirmed Cases
Of the 84 cases, a total of 34 of them have fully recovered and are discharged. 4 of them are in ICU.
The conditions of the remaining 46 patients are either stable or improving.
