Cyclist Crashed Into Motorcyclist While Making Abrupt Lane Change; Netizens Mocked & Cheered at the Accident Instead

From the looks of it, an epic war may soon occur.

Though instead of a worldwide epic featuring the likes of fire-breathing dragons and conspiracy-churning ex-Presidents, this war could just feature two different transport takers here in Singapore:

Motorists and cyclists.

So lest you’re unaware, there has been increasing dissatisfaction on both ends of late, what with motorists and Netizens alike getting incensed by errant cyclists on the road.

On the other hand, cyclists have dismissed errant acts as unavoidable steps they had to take on the road, either due to a motorist’s careless driving or other circumstances while changing lanes.

And yet, one does not truly understand the mutiny between both sides until they witness the following incident:

The case of a cyclist getting hit by a motorcycle not only drew zero sympathy but loads of flak instead.

Cyclist Crashed Into Motorcyclist While Making Abrupt Lane Change

On 27 April 2021, Facebook page SGRV ADMIN posted a 0:37 clip on the social media platform, alongside the following caption:

“Cyclist changing lane abruptly without checking gets hit by motorcyclist”.

In the video, a cyclist could be seen cycling along Seletar Club Road when he changed from the rightmost lane to the leftmost lane.

It was then that a collision with a motorcycle occurred.

As a result of the impact, the cyclist was thrown off the bicycle, landing in a heap by the roadside pavement.

It should be noted, however, that the motorcyclist had attempted to swerve away when the incoming cyclist encroached upon his lane.

Netizens Mocked & Cheered at the Accident Instead

To date, the post has attracted over 1.3K likes & reactions, as well as 1K comments.

Around 774 comments were also recorded at the time of writing, majority of which rendered virtually zero sympathy towards the fallen cyclist.

Rather, many seemed to mock the cyclist’s state of disarray, with some even expressing glee.

“Sorry but no sympathy on the cyclist as he was asking for it!!” one Netizen said.

“Cyclist u really deserve it!” another chimed in. “Hope its a great lesson to u. This video helps a lot to the rider. Bcos of most nuisance cyclists, innocent riders or drivers get slap with demerit points or license revoked. Haisshh. When are all this gonna end?”

“I know many of you won’t say it cos you don’t want to come across as being a bad person, so I’ll go out and say it for you,” one comment stated. “”Warms the cockles of your heart seeing this, doesn’t it?””
Meanwhile, some chose to sympathise with the motorcyclist.
“Feel bad for the motorist,” one wrote. “Hope you’re ok and no injury. Cyclist ur damn a nuisance.”
And others pointed out that it wasn’t actually the motorcyclist who had hit the cyclist, but the other way round.
“Hallo…” a Netizen stated. “Not motorcycle hit the cyclist. Is the cyclist hit the motorcycle ok!!!”
You can read more comments here.
It should be noted that in a follow-up article that was done by StompNetizens were also unforgiving towards the cyclist.
One, in particular, did not hold back.

“Is this retard dead yet?

“Or at least his legs broken so he cannot cycle for a while.

“Cyclist again! They come in all shapes and sizes.

“Give other cyclists a bad name recently. Spoil market.”

Not The First Instance

In a prior incident, a cyclist had decided to play punk by cycling on the middle of the road.

Soon after, a lorry tried to overtake but the cyclist did the unthinkable: he purposely and angrily hit the lorry’s side mirror, which fell in front of the lorry.

Then, for some reason, the lorry swerved towards the cyclist and collapsed with it.

Fortunately, the cyclist was able to get back to his feet almost instantaneously.

Following the incident, many Netizens chose to side with the lorry driver instead, with some even justifying the actions taken in the video.

So in a sense, you can certainly comprehend the mutiny going on here, and the widespread hatred against cyclists that only seems to broaden as times go.
