Update on 4 December 2019, 3pm: We’ve received a media release to confirm that the new outlet is at 89 Neil Road
You might remember this chain called Shake Shack from when Jewel Changi opened. It’s the one that always seems to be mentioned when talking about Jewel.
Hey look, we even did an article on it.
When the chain opened their first store in S’pore, the queues there are basically endless. I remember going there at about 3 pm, and there was still a queue snaking around with shake shack personnel directing queues.
You might be wondering what queues are after half a year, so here’s an Instagram post from someone who went there about 3 weeks ago:
Definitely wasn’t as long as before, but still looks like business is good.
And if you’re wondering if it’s finally time to eat Shake Shack when the hype has died down… I’ve got some good news for you.
Possibly Shake Shack At Craig Road, Tanjong Pagar
Mothership had been told by their readers that they saw the outline of the Shake Shack sign on 13 Nov 2019. The sign was later taken down.
And then on 21 Nov 2019, another reader sent this picture to Mothership:
Look at the decorative strip: that’s basically the only thing up in the pics for the renovation, but it looks really similar to the one in Shake Shack.
In another picture, you can see that the font also looks really similar to the font that Shake Shack uses, so there’s really only one thing to say to the Mothership readers:
Just In Case: It’s Not Confirmed
Although the evidence we have points towards Shake Shack opening another outlet, this isn’t confirmed by any official source yet.
The last time we had any mention of opening a second outlet is on 3 Nov 2019, in a CNA Lifestyle interview with their culinary director.
When asked if they would be opening a second outlet because of their success, he said that they “don’t have a spot in mind right now.”
“So, we definitely want to open up another one but it’s when the time’s right. But know that if we open a second location here in whatever the neighbourhood, we will make sure it looks good.”
Who knows, maybe it’s not really Shake Shack, but a bootleg version that uses the same exact font and a very similar sign.
Let’s call it… Shiok Shack.
